Intro: One of the impacted indigenous communities includes the Quinault Indian Nation. The Quinault people are known for their rich culture which includes their skills in basket making and weaving along with much more. Some of their baskets were used for gathering shellfish and oysters which were a significant part of their diet.

Impacts: The Quinault people have been using their local waters for sustenance, trade, and maintaining their lifestyle until their waters have been polluted by fish-processing plants. The Quinault people are especially vulnerable to changes in marine populations and treaties subject them to limited harvesting area. Ocean acidification and deoxygenation is responsible for the majority of marine ocean die-offs as factories and modern human life produce an excessive amount of CO2.
